JH-143 - Shipyard Risk Assessment Surveys

Weselmann can provide JH-143 risk management surveys in accordance with the format specified by the Joint Hull Committee of Lloyd's.

The JH143 survey aims to offer underwriters a comprehensive insight into the nature of the risks associated with shipyard activities, as well as to provide valuable risk management to the yards.

Our risk assessment process includes evaluation of the activities and operational procedures at the shipyard with the focus of identifying hazards, assessing associated risks, determining control measures to mitigate risks, and monitoring the effectiveness of these control measures.

Scope

Shipyard Risk Assessment Surveys, conducted in accordance with JH-143 guidelines, are carefully done to assess risks at the shipyard. These assessments encompass a broad spectrum of potential risk factors, spanning from operational and technical aspects to political, geographical, environmental and safety considerations. 

A detailed physical survey of the shipyard is conducted to assess the facilities, working-procedures and effectiveness of production, subcontractor-management as well as safety and environmental-protection systems implemented.

Review of relevant certifications, safety procedures, work safety manuals, etc. are done together with interviews of key personnel at the shipyard, in order to provide a full comprehensive risk assessment.

Reporting

Our service includes a detailed assessment report that provides an evaluation of the risks and observations, along with recommendations to the shipyard for improvement and mitigation of risks.

Additionally, a Risk Matrix to visually represent the level of risk in different areas is included, as well as a summary of the overall Risk Rating of the yard to provide a clear understanding of the risk profile.

All is supported with data and comprehensive photo documentation.
